In the foothills of mountain Voras (or Kaimaktsalan) lies the settlement of Paleos Agios Athanasios. Built in the late 16th century and once an abandoned village, Paleos Agios Athanasios was listed as a "Traditional Settlement" in 1992, and since then it became a popular and one of the best all-year-round travel destinations in Northern Greece.
